Why You Shouldn’t Sleep in Warm Pajamas, Even in the Winter

Almost 40% of us wear pajamas to sleep, and there is nothing cozier than your favorite winter pajamas. But what we choose to wear to sleep can really affect our sleep, our appearance, and even our health.

If your cute pajamas cause you to overheat at night, it may be one of the reasons why you don’t fall asleep so easily and end up waking up tired in the morning.

We also love wearing comfy pajamas and hiding under a warm blanket when it’s cold outside. So we decided to find out why warm pajamas may not be the best nightwear option.

Sleeping in very warm pajamas means that you can have a restless night as your body needs to maintain the proper temperature during the night.

The ideal fabric for bedtime is cotton, as it lets the skin breathe and helps to be comfortable.

Another great option for sleeping is linen, which is breathable and absorbent but may not be as soft as cotton.

When you sweat while you sleep, this can cause a specific type of rash known as sweat pimples.

The combination of heat and friction from your sweaty pajamas can cause clogged pores, which in turn will lead to further skin irritation.

Choosing pajamas made from bamboo fabric can help prevent acne, as this fabric has antimicrobial properties.

It’s even softer and more absorbent than cotton and maybe just what you need for a good night’s sleep.

Men who don’t wear pants at night can improve the quality of their sperm, according to a study. When you go to bed in tight underwear or warm pajamas, your genital area is more likely to sweat.

It can also affect the fertility of women, as excess sweating can cause inflammation and infections.

If you are very hot in bed, your core temperature will not be able to drop, which will prevent you from sleeping well at night.

Having a lower temperature at night helps your body heal better and can even increase your metabolism.

If you want to wear something other than cotton pajamas, silk can be a good option.

It is a natural thermal regulator and can keep you warm on cold winter nights thanks to the heat that is maintained between the silk threads, creating an insulating effect.

What is your favorite type of nightwear? Do you prefer to sleep in warm or light pajamas?
