What Could Happen to Your Skin if You Fast

In addition to environmental factors such as exposure to sunlight and pollution, our eating habits also have a significant impact on the way our skin looks and feels.

Fasting is a growing trend lately, primarily because some alternative medicine practitioners claim that dietary changes can prevent acne, skin cancer, or even skin aging, and fasting to improve skin health is a current trend.

We decided to do a little research on how fasting works and what doctors and professionals are saying about this new growing trend.

Always keep in mind that before changing your diet or your habits, you should visit a doctor who can guide you and assess whether you are making the right decision.

Fasting Reduces Your Caloric Intake And Detoxifies Your Body

The idea behind fasting suggests that the body detoxifies because there is a decrease in the daily consumption of calories. This, in turn, leads to a decrease in cholesterol and triglyceride levels in your body.

Recent studies have explored the benefits of this method in patients with inflammatory diseases (such as atopic dermatitis) with very positive results and considerable improvements after undergoing different types of diets, including fasting.

And It Could Also Decrease The Risk Of Skin Cancer

Other studies on the effects of fasting seem to suggest that it may help reduce the risk of skin cancer or other cancers. Apparently, fasting can also help reduce the spread of cancer cells.

However, this research was done only in rats at this time. But it provided encouraging results because scientists saw the number of hematopoietic stem cells (HSCs) grow.

These cells with a funny name are responsible for creating new blood cells. The fact that there are more hematopoietic stem cells and blood cells in general means that, in the long term, the immune system can fight cancer more efficiently.

Attempts have been made to extrapolate the results of this research to humans, but so far none have reached a conclusion that is supported by the scientific community.

Bonus: Skin Fasting Isn’t The Same As Fasting, But It’s Also Becoming Popular.

Skin fasting is a new trend that has been gaining more and more followers in recent months. This practice doesn’t have much to do with diet or eating, aside from spreading the name.

Instead, the idea is to stop using so many chemicals in your daily skincare routine and let them sit for a few days or weeks. It is a kind of detox for the skin.

The theory behind this cleansing method is that the skin produces its own oil, which prevents the loss of natural moisture.

Although there is no scientific evidence to support this practice, many people have adopted it. However, there is something we need to clarify.

The only thing we should not stop using during this detoxification period, or never, by the way, is sunscreen.

Did you know that fasting can bring so many benefits to your health? Have you heard of skin fasting before?

Have you tried any of these things? If so, what was your experience?
