Although dining out can be a lot of fun, going out a lot is not a good idea. You’ve probably noticed that when you reached middle age, you started going out more often than before.

The children have grown and you can have more time for yourself. Plus, you feel more comfortable financially, and eating out is just convenient.

But if you think about it, you will probably eat a lot more when you’re out than you do at home.

5. Not Drinking Enough Water

Water is essential for your well-being. Sometimes when our bodies become dehydrated, we feel like eating something, while in reality, all we need is more water.

Try drinking a glass of water before a meal or snack, and you may find that you start eating less. Remember that soft drinks are not a substitute for water.

4. Drinking Too Much Wine

It’s always good to have a little wine for dinner. Keep in mind that wine is very high in calories and has a lot of sugar. When you add wine to your food, you generally eat more. The key word here is “moderation”.

Instead of having a glass of wine for dinner every day, have it occasionally. Decreasing the size of the glass is another great solution.

3. Eating the Wrong “Healthy” Snacks

Let’s admit that we all like to eat snacks. But be careful what you eat, especially if it’s a late-night snack.

Remember that many snacks that claim to be “healthy” are full of sugar and extremely high in calories. Healthy snacks should consist of protein, fiber, and low sugar content.

2. Not Eating Enough Fiber

A recent study showed that fiber is essential for good health. It is a natural appetite suppressant, and unlike carbohydrates, fats, or proteins, fiber is not digested by the body, it simply passes through the system.

The main sources of fiber are vegetables, fruits, and whole grains, one of which is buckwheat. Buckwheat is gluten-free, has a very low GI, and is rich in different minerals and vitamins.

1. Avoiding Exercise

It doesn’t matter if you’ve always been an active person or if physical activity has never been your favorite activity, being active is very important when you’re middle-aged.

To avoid losing muscle mass, you should combine aerobic and strength exercises, including a good abdominal workout.

Remember, if you are a beginner in the gym, it may be a good idea to start working with a personal trainer until you feel more comfortable with the exercises.
